Carla Almeida is a graphic designer, art director and a ceramic enthusiast. From Portugal, she is now Design Director at Brand Union in Hong Kong.
Carla is committed to inspire people through the visual stories that she creates. She has been working as an independent designer & art director, and University Lecturer since 2004. The experience of teaching on a cinema course had an enormous influence in her vision and practice as Art Director. In 2015 she decided to make a leap in her career and move to the Pearl of the Orient, Hong Kong. “For the challenge” she says, both personal and professional. Previously she worked as Associate Design Director at Eight Partnership, in Hong Kong, an award-winning global design agency with Apple, Cathay Pacific and The Economist as clients.
She is as passionate about freshly brewed coffee as she is for manchego cheese, Fellini, African patterns, Bitches Brew and the Russian constructivism. Her way of thinking is of an idea maker and a storyteller. The outcome of her work is creating strong visual concepts that may result in, or be applied to: identities, books, posters, films, stationaries, digital design and packaging. With a holistic approach towards design and branding, she delivers precise strategic thinking and a unique creative experience.
